In this little blog, I thought I’d mention some camping tips for beginners. We have some RV-related camping tips on our previous blogs, but today we’ll talk about camping tips for beginners. We are not an expert in camping, but since we have a tent in our RV, we like to sleep at tent time to time. And today I wanted to tell you about some of the elements we learned every camping beginner should know.

How to get started

Well, do some research, or ask friends before rushing out and by camping stuff. Getting a general idea of what you want to do helps you get a total view – and prevents you from being lost.

It is difficult to prepare and pack for camping as a beginner, if you haven’t been doing it before.

Regardless of where you will camp or what time of the season, I will explain some important stuff you will need while camping. That will assure you a comfortable and safe trip.

If you are preparing to camp for more than a day, understand that you won’t stay in a hotel-like environment. Otherwise, it won’t be called camping.

The beauty of camping is to sleep in nature. You don’t sleep on the ground, thankfully, as it may cause you some health problem.

You need something which enables you to enjoy:

  • the beauty of the situation, and at the same time
  • prevent any danger.

That brings us to the first element of camping, which is a tent.

Advantages of sleeping in a tent

Camping in a tent has a variety of advantages.

1) First, sleeping in a tent gives you the feel of the nature, and, it safeguards you from rain and wind.

If you are an outdoor lover, that’s the feeling you are you seeking for.

2) Camping in a tent will cost you less than camping in a mobile home. You can find tents in all sizes, shapes, prices, and styles.

Here is the tent (from Amazon) that we use for all our camping trips.

Camping essentials

The tent is not the only essential item for camping; there are multiple things needed.

When you are camping, you will be far from the hustle of the city: no transportations, no lighting, just you and the beauty of nature.

We need some lights to outlast the darkness. Searching for something at night is hard while camping.

LED headlamp is a must.

You might also need another light, which is a lantern, or lamp.

The lamp is vital for your tent before sleeping. You can also use it outside the tent when telling stories with your partners or your family members — another way how a lamp can be helpful.

To keep your body energetic, you need to have decent meals. And you need some light to see what you eat in the evening.

Preparing the meals

You can cook your food yourself, and that requires you to bring a camping stove or backpacking stove and gas flask with you.

At least, if you will not stay over two days camping.

Why did I mention cooking if you are staying less time in the campsite? Well, the fresh food that you bring with you can’t last forever, and it depends on the weather too, especially if it is summer.

Furthermore, you can make a campfire. It is not preferable, because making fire can cause severe results and dangers.

The other way is to bring canned meats, like canned stew, or canned fruits, or whatever you prefer to dine. They make canned meals for long-term storage and transport. That is the food you need if you will stay out longer.

Remember to check the date of the expiration and compare it with the number of days you will cover the grounds.

Let me tell you a distinction between cooking fresh food and canned food.

Canned food saves your time. You need not think about what to prepare for a meal or use time for meal preparing.

Cooking food takes time and effort, but it’s much more appetizing.

Additional stuff you need

Finally, you are ready to go camping. Almost! Almost, as there is one more detail you should consider before you start your first excursion.

What you need are those small multitask things that can help you do multiple things at the same time.

I will start with a rope. The rope is convenient. For example, you just splashed swimming into a refreshing stream, and then you changed your clothes. The clothes you were swimming with are wet. Now you have a rope to hang them. It can also help in putting the tent still.

Another handy item is a camping knife. It’s not a regular knife that you use in the kitchen. Your camping knife is a vital tool that can make your life easier.
